Preview: The Olatunji Concert

This "Preview" of the recording of the John Coltrane group's concert at the Olatunji Center in New York City April 23, 1967, ran in Signal To Noise in the fall 2001 issue (Issue #23).  Edited by Pete Gershon, this New England based publication lists itself as "the journal of improvised & experimental music", an area that naturally includes Coltrane among its sources.   The article was written in advance of the commercial release of the Olatunji concert, providing information about the recording as well as a background for the concert itself.
