THIS IS T J O The Temple Jazz Orchestra's third CD, THIS IS TJO, adds a new element to the band's resume--the composing and arranging skills of its members. This Is TJO features all new material composed by current band members, along with material from friends and associates--all of it recorded for the first time. TJO tears through charts contributed by trumpeter Tim Cates, trumpeter Lee 'Sparky' Thomason, and pianist Dave Wild, along with material from TC Director of Jazz Studies Ben Irom, Austin saxophonist (and occasional TJO 'sub') Paul White and David Bandsman.
Here's the set list for This Is TJO:
"Bohica" (David Bandsman)
"African Skies" (Michael Brecker, arranged by Ben Irom)
"Catch The Early Trane" (Dave Wild)
"Third Ear" (Paul White)
"It Is Time" (Lee 'Sparky' Thomason)
"Gibralter" (Freddie Hubbard, arranged by Tim Cates)
"A Nod To Cee Cee" (Ben Irom)
"Your Mileage May Vary" (Dave Wild)
"Ludis Blues" (Lee 'Sparky' Thomason)
This Is TJO features the Temple Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Tom Fairlie, recorded at Temple College on February 20 and 21, 2006 by Ben Irom, Tom Fairlie and Tim Kidder. Mixing and Mastering by Aaron Horne.
